Is the Theraface Pro worth the hype? I tested it for five months to see

If there’s one thing that absolutely excites me, it’s a face tool. Gua Sha, microcurrent, my beloved ice roller – they’re all part of my daily routine and I’m not ashamed of them. Sitting on my couch at night with a good old face tool and working while reading a book is my happiness. So when I saw that Therabody released the TheraFace Pro last year (and then saw it being called the Dyson Airwrap of facial tools on TikTok), I knew I had to give it a try.

You may be familiar with the Theraface Pro after it went viral on social media late last year (and subsequently sold out, of course). I got my hands on it and gave it a chance to work its magic on me and decide if it was really worth it or not. Here’s everything you need to know about TheraFace, including my unfiltered opinion on whether or not you should place your order.

What is TheraFace Pro?

You’re probably already familiar with the Theragun, the percussive massager that has become the gold standard for at-home massage treatments. Using the same percussive massage technology but designed specifically for your face, the TheraFace Pro is a portable facial device that combines eight different facial tools into one all-in-one device.

As a complete package, the TheraFace Pro comes with a microcurrent attachment, percussive therapy attachments, a cleaning ring and an LED light therapy attachment. You can also purchase a set of hot and cold rings for an additional $99. All of the device’s attachment heads are magnetically connected to the device and can therefore be easily replaced.

The device is designed to relieve tension and relax the facial muscles through massage, tonify with microcurrent technology and rejuvenate with light therapy. The different technologies are designed to be combined and allow you to customize your TheraFace Pro routine to suit your skin’s needs.

How to use the microcurrent attachment

Microcurrent devices have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their firming and firming effects. Microcurrent works by delivering electrical current to muscles and skin cells. This in turn builds the facial muscles and tightens and tightens the skin. We’ve all seen TikToks of someone using microcurrent and watching their cheekbones appear like magic.

To use the microcurrent attachment, you must first apply a conductive gel to your face (otherwise you may feel the shocks of the device). The Theraface Pro has a preset eight-minute shutdown time for the microcurrent setting, which you can set once every 24 hours. It is recommended to stroke the face slowly, for five seconds, and repeat this movement about three times.

I’ve had the NuFace mini for a few years, so I was already familiar with microcurrent technology. Right off the bat, I noticed that the TheraFace’s microcurrent head is larger and covers more of my face than my NuFace, which I really preferred. I also prefer holding the Theraface over the NuFace; The handle is much more stable and the process is much easier.

Honestly, I don’t like the feel of the microcurrent gel on my face, so I use the CosRx Snail Mucin instead, which is already part of my skincare routine and provides the same viscous barrier that allows me to use the device comfortably.

If there’s one thing that’s non-negotiable for me in my Theraface routine, it’s the microcurrent ring. I use it every morning and immediately notice a visible difference on my face. It immediately looks more energetic and alert and I notice the difference throughout the day when I forget to use it. My mom recently commented on my cheekbones (an area I’m sorely lacking), and I have the Theraface microcurrent head to thank for that.

How to use the cleaning attachment

Like a Clarisonic (remember that?), Theraface’s percussive cleansing ring enhances the removal of dirt, oil, dead skin, and other pore-clogging debris while you wash your face. It is essentially used to give your face a deep clean that your hands alone cannot achieve. To use it, work your face section by section with your cleanser of choice (except those with microbeads or harsh exfoliants).

I have very sensitive, very dry skin and therefore don’t particularly use cleansing devices. They tend to irritate my perioral dermatitis, but I’ve occasionally used them on days when I was wearing a lot of makeup to get an extra deep clean. It’s definitely the least aggressive cleaning tool I’ve used, but you have to remember to handle it carefully – dirtying your head can spread bacteria and cause breakouts. In addition to replacing the cleaning attachment every 90 days, you should also wipe it with a towel or wipe after use.

Although this feature is not heavily used on the device, I still appreciate having the opportunity to use it. For me, having a single cleaning device would be a waste, but as one of eight options on the device, it’s definitely worth having.

How to use the percussive attachments

The TheraFace Pro comes with three different impact attachments – a cone, a microdot and a flat head – and can be used at three different speeds. Percussive therapy, a combination of quick percussive movements and vibrations, is intended to relax the facial muscles and relieve tension. This makes it particularly helpful for people with severe jaw or jaw joint pain.

The three different percussion attachments are each intended for different purposes. The flat head is designed to relieve tension throughout the face, chest and neck; The micropoint head is used to maximize blood circulation in larger areas such as the forehead and cheeks. and the cone head is used for targeted treatment of the eye area and pressure points.

I personally don’t experience any jaw or facial pain, but I really enjoy using the percussive treatments simply because of how they feel – especially the micropoint and cone heads. After using the micro tip head, my face looks healthier overall and has a glow that I don’t see often as a dry skinned girl. I have a condition that causes my eyelids to become extremely swollen and have found the cone head to be a godsend for that. It relieves the tension I often feel in my eyes within a few minutes, so I use this feature every day.

How to use the light therapy attachments

The light therapy attachment for the TheraFace Pro has three different settings: red light for aging, blue light for acne and the red plus infrared light, which specifically helps reduce wrinkles around the eyes.

While the red and red plus infrared lights can be used at the same time as the impact attachments, blue light should not be used as it can promote the spread of bacteria. The Therabody website recommends using the light attachments by holding them on specific areas for 45 seconds at a time.

I’ve been using the blue light for the last five months when I’ve had breakouts here and there and I feel like it makes them go away quicker than they would have otherwise. Do I believe it is a miracle worker? No, but I think it’s a nice addition to my routine to remove a pimple from my face.

Of course, since red light is used for anti-aging effects, it’s hard to say how well it worked for me. Have I aged less than usual in the last five months? You can’t actually say that. The reason I continue to use it is because it is so easy to use with the percussive treatments. It’s a two-for-one move that feels especially valuable when combined. So when I use one, I always just use both.

How to use the hot and cold rings

The hot and cold rings are the only attachment you need to purchase separately and cost an additional $99. The hot ring has three settings: 95, 102 and 109 degrees Fahrenheit; The cold ring also has three settings: 78, 71, and 65 degrees Fahrenheit. The hot ring is intended to reduce tension, relieve pain and improve blood flow to the gesichts increase, and the cold ring is said to relieve pain, inflammation and muscle spasms. For a more personalized experience, the cold ring can also be used simultaneously with the percussion attachments.

Of the two, the hot ring is definitely the star of the show for me. It feels incredible and leaves me with the same glowy, flushed look as the percussive attachments. It’s a unique experience as I’ve never had another device that applies heat to my face. I like the cold attachment when I use it with the whipping attachments, but when not, I reach for the ice roller more often since my ice roller is much colder. That being said, I think they’re a really unique and useful addition to the device, and if you’re like me, if soYou will constantly reach for them.
